Matter a field of particles you can push and pull

A field of particles

Matter is a large field of particles moving in a slow flow. You can push them, pull them into a well, or send a wave through them. A short tap switches the field between three behaviours — a flow, a pull and a pulse — so the same gesture does not always mean the same thing.

Push, gather, release

Move and the particles follow into currents. An open hand drives them away; a closed one draws them in. Hold and they gather into a well; release and a wave travels outward. Without a camera, the wheel or two fingers stand in for the open and closed hand.

With a mouse, touch or your hands

You can explore with a mouse, a touch screen or your own hands.

• Mouse and keyboard

  Move to guide the field. Hold the button to dig a well and release to send a wave. The wheel pushes the particles out or draws them in. A short click switches the field between flow, pull and pulse.

• Touch

  Slide to guide the particles. Rest a finger to gather a well, then lift to release the wave. Two fingers repel or attract. A brief tap switches how the field behaves.

• Hands, with the camera

  Point to guide the field. An open palm repels and a fist attracts. Hold a pinch to form the well, then release it to send the wave. A short pinch switches the field between flow, pull and pulse.
