SYNFIELD runs in your browser. This page separates three things: the camera, the preferences kept on this device, and how visits are counted. It describes the site as it is built today.

The camera

The camera is off when you open a world. It starts only if you choose “Explore with your hands”, or if you turn it on later from the camera control or the C key.

The browser then asks for video from the camera facing you. The request does not include a microphone, and the picture is not shown on the page.

Frames are read in this page and passed to a vision task that also runs in this browser. That task looks for one hand and returns points. The model is a file on this website, and it downloads only after the camera starts.

This site’s code does not record that video, does not upload the frames or the hand points, and does not create an account.

What this browser remembers

A few choices are saved in local storage on this device, so the next visit can continue. None of them is a video or a trace of your hand.

synfield.landing.motion

synfield.help.v1

synfield.comfort.v1

Clearing this site’s data in the browser removes them. The application does not send these preferences with the visit count.

Visits and worlds

To know how many people visit and which worlds people enjoy most, the pages load Umami’s cookieless counter (cloud.umami.is). It counts page views and a few anonymous events: which world opens and how it was reached (link, Atlas, arrows, keyboard or hand), roughly how long it stays visible, in coarse ranges, whether a mouse, touch or hands are used, when the camera is turned on, and when a capture is made or shared.

Umami sets no cookies and creates no identifier that follows you across sites, and if your browser sends “Do Not Track” it counts nothing. SYNFIELD’s code never sends it video, camera images, hand points, gestures or the preferences above.

Fonts, world images and the vision model are files on this site. The credit at the bottom links to sandrabamboo.com. That site loads only if you follow the link.

When you stop or leave

Turning the camera off stops the video and closes the vision task. Hiding the tab does the same. Leaving the worlds, or closing the page, runs that cleanup as the page goes away.

The browser can keep its own record of the camera permission for this site. Changing or revoking it is done in the browser, not inside SYNFIELD.

Sound is separate. It stays off until you turn it on, it is generated in the browser, and it stops when you turn it off, hide the tab or leave.
